 Special Needs Resource Center

Mission: The JBER-Richardson Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) provides advocacy and assistance to service members who have a family member with special needs. Any family member who requires special medical or educational services must be enrolled. Medical or educational needs that qualify for enrollment include (but are not limited to) Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Asthma, Diabetes, Learning Disorders, Down Syndrome, and Mental Illness, including treatment for anxiety or depression.

EFMP provides resources and referral to available community services, support groups, education workshops, and recreational activities. EFMP advocates on behalf of soldiers and families who may be experiencing difficulty in obtaining the services they feel they need. We also have a resource library with books and videos on a variety of topics that are available for checkout. It is a requirement that all family members obtain an re EFMP screening prior to soldiers approval for family travel to Alaska.

If you will be PCSing to Alaska, contact the EFMP manager at your installation to initiate the screening process. Early Intervention Services: Our community is fortunate to have an early intervention program to serve children ages birth to three years who are diagnosed with or at risk for developmental delays. The program provides, speech, occupational, physical therapy, and other services to eligible children. You do not need a referral form to access this program.

On Post - For persons residing on JBER-Richardson, we offer special educational classes and support groups available to meet your child's needs. ("TLC" - Together, Listening and Connecting)

Off Post - Special Educational classes and support groups are offered in the surrounding schools.
